What does 'ASF' mean?
ASF stands for Administrative & Service Faculty. We are the collective bargaining association representing non-teaching faculty who serve in vital professional positions across the seven state universities within the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system.
We are often the very first contacts for students enrolling at university campuses in Bemidji, Mankato, Marshall, Moorhead, St. Cloud, the Twin Cities, and Winona. Our members are dedicated to the recruitment and retention of students, the promotion of excellence in learning, and ensuring our students achieve ultimate success.

Understanding Your Benefits & Your Membership
In accordance with Minnesota state public employment guidelines, full union membership is voluntary. While the core terms of our Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) cover all Administrative Service Faculty on campus, those baseline protections only exist because dues-paying members step up to fund the work.
True workplace equity and leverage are built collectively. Becoming a full, dues-paying member ensures you are actively supporting the team that secures your livelihood, while unlocking your right to govern the union itself.
Covered by the Contract
Guaranteed for all campus ASF employees through the collective bargaining process:
- Negotiated Wages: Predictable salary ranges and competitive cost-of-living adjustments that outperform non-union state metrics.
- Comprehensive Healthcare: Access to the State Employee Group Insurance Program (SEGIP) medical, dental, and vision packages.
- Job Security Framework: Strict safeguards against unfair termination and structured non-renewal notice timelines.
- Leave Allocations: Contractual rights to vacation, sick leave, personal days, and floating holidays.
- Professional Allocations: Access to institutional professional development funds and sabbatical eligibility.
